No I didn't do sufficient backup, no I didn't look before I updated. This is something we will work out but wanted folks to know.

Now we are left to either fix several hundreds of file names/locations just to switch from ODP to ODB, because we were moving to more shared server space online, or stay with ODP, or maybe my IT guy can batch change file names but that creates other challenges. We found an article about these, evidently because they are from different developers. Hundreds of files of errors, file names, extensions, names too long, symbols, whatever. Migrating all the files over from ODP to ODB it became apparent the two systems, both MS products (!), have different file requirements. We recently switched to MS for Exchange hosting (from App River) and ODB, hence the likely permanently erased emails mentioned above. Each of my staff were using their own ODP accounts remotely to backup their files in the cloud. MS has been challenging recently we also realized there is a problem between OneDrive Personal (ODP) and OneDrive for Business (ODB). I get that MS and Mac compete, but I pay MS for products just like I did on PC and they aren't as good. I immediately noticed how little MS spends attention on Mac products which is unfortunate. I made the switch to Mac 12 months ago, longtime PC. and they'll likely be findable But my problem is that I had a lot of "On My Computer" emails dragged over from a terminated Exchange account that I hope I can find. I thought maybe they'd pull forward in the account files but all seem to be gone - that was Friday so Monday I'll call support. But when I installed the upgrade from 2011 to 2016 Office the Outlook files all evidently disappeared. Updating to Office 365 Outlook 2016 for Mac solved this for me.
